About me

A little about my journey and experience.

Counsellor Norwich

I’m delighted you’ve found your way here. If you’re looking for a counsellor who truly listens, understands, and brings warmth and empathy to conversations, you’re in the right place.

My journey to becoming a counsellor has taken me through many different professional roles, each of which has helped shape my understanding of people and the challenges they face.

My first role was as a dental nurse. In this role I helped patients feel comfortable and reassured during dental treatment.

From there I moved to the ambulance service where I supported patients during some of the most difficult and stressful moments of their lives.

I also spent time managing a pub, which gave me the opportunity to meet and listen to many different people and their stories.

Later I returned to dentistry as a practice manager, leading a large team and supporting both staff and patients.

Another important role in my career was working as a funeral arranger. In this role I supported families through grief and loss with compassion and understanding.

These roles all shared a common thread – supporting people during difficult moments in their lives. This ultimately led me to pursue counselling as a career.

“Life seldom follows a straight line. My journey has taken me through many different roles, each shaping the way I listen and support others today.”

My Counselling Qualifications

Once I discovered the world of counselling, I was eager to learn as much as I could. I studied and I now hold a Certificate in Counselling Studies, a Post-Graduate Diploma and a Master’s degree (MA) in Counselling, from the University of East Anglia. I have also completed further training in Couples Counselling, Counselling Supervision and additional training focused on supporting survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.

In recent years, I have expanded my practice to include online counselling, earning a Certificate in this area to ensure I can support clients whether they prefer to meet face-to-face or talk from the comfort of their own home.

My learning never stands still. Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an essential part of my approach, helping me to ensure that the support I offer remains current and effective.

How I Work: A Safe, Empathetic Space

At the heart of my approach is a simple but powerful belief: people heal in safe environments where they’re truly heard. I bring empathy, attentive listening, (the sort where you know someone’s really with you) and a knack for creating a space where you can be yourself—no judgement, no pressure, and definitely no clipboards wielded like interrogation tools. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just in need of someone to listen, I’m here to work  with you, to enable you to make choices & changes which are right for you.

Experience That Matters

Beyond formal qualifications, I have had the privilege of supporting people in various settings. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I volunteered as a Samaritan listener. My training here gave me the skills to listen to callers who were experiencing emotional distress, challenging times, or suicidal thoughts. The ability to listen to express empathy and offer emotional support are skills which carried me forward into the world of counselling.

Whilst studying at the University of East Anglia, part of my training included a placement at the University’s Wellbeing Service, providing counselling to students. The experience I gained here enabled me to obtain an insight & understanding of the issues many students go through, including, stress, anxiety, depression, gender identity concerns and worries regarding academic studies.

For a number of years I volunteered, as a counsellor, at The Sue Lambert Trust, a Norfolk charity dedicated to working with those who have experienced sexual abuse, sexual assault or sexual violence.

In all of my roles, I have aimed to provide empathic, safe and non-judgemental support. These experiences, across my many different roles and walks of life, have shaped my understanding and deepened my empathy for people. This has reminded me that every individual’s story is unique, important and it is a privilege to be able to be alongside them as they share their own journeys.
